The end before the beginning.

We finally arrived in Poulsbo, WA at Chantry’s dad’s place. This is our final stop before heading to Astoria, OR (on the 13th) from where I and the boys will start our bike trek back (on the 14th). Our last few days in Spokane Valley were spent relaxing with family. Check out the pictures!

We took an early morning bike ride on Monday along the Spokane River. We loaded up our bikes with all our panniers and biked nearly 32 miles in 2.5 hours. Given all the family we need to see here in Western Washington this was probably our last big training ride. The next time we get on the bikes will probably be in Astoria on the 14th.

This is my bike (a Salsa Marrakesh), which I’ve named “Chips,” sporting my mascot, a prairie dog from Yellowstone also named Chips. He’ll have to give up the glasses once the ride starts!

This is Forrest’s bike (a Surly Disc Trucker), which he’s named “Mario,” sporting the appropriate mascot. Rocky still needs to mount his mascot. You can expect a picture in the near future πŸ™‚
After our bike ride we headed to Post Falls, ID to check out the Falls Park dam. It was a beautiful day and the park and dam were a delightful sight.

Chantry and her mother under an enormous willow tree in the park.

The falls were beautiful… but I think this pretty little lady is far more beautiful πŸ˜€

We left Spokane after stopping by Chantry’s sister’s house (Rena) and getting a couple of pictures.

The drive over was absolutely beautiful.

We decided to take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and then drive from there to Poulsbo, where Chantry’s dad lives.

The iconic Space Needle in Seattle.

If you like sports, here’s a picture (in the background) of Safeco Field (to the right), the home field of the Seattle Mariners, and CenturyLink Field, the home field of the Seattle Seahawks, directly to the left of it.

It’s hard to see, but for an iconic Puget Sound picture, here’s the Seattle-Brermerton ferry heading to Seattle with Mt. Rainier in the background.

We arrived at dad’s house just in time to spend a few minutes with Amy Gill, Chantry’s stepsister. She lives in Anchorage and was down for a visit–just like my dad and stepmother πŸ™‚ What wonderful providences!

Please pray for our time here. We have a lot of people to see and only a few days in which to do it.

PS… here’s today from Rocky’s perspective (from his journal).

Until next time… πŸ™‚
