Our first day on the road

After a non-stop Friday of cleaning, organizing, and packing, it was a real joy when today started out right on schedule. We left the house just before 7:00, all packed up and ready for our first day on the road.

First stop? Starbucks, of course. I think Sandy was the happiest of us all…

Rocky and Terra were biting their lips hoping Daddy would find a rest stop as soon as possible…

And Terra was very glad when he did…

Given how early we got on the road and how little traffic there was through CT, we made great time getting to central PA. So we thought about making surprise stop at the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA; but instead we opted for Hershey Chocolate World! It turned out to be on the way to our destination for the night and only a half hour away from it. You’ll never see so much chocolate in one place! The last time we paid a visit to Hershey Chocolate World was 12 years ago when I was in seminary. Needless to say, the prices went up a lot. So we took the free chocolate tour, got a free bite size chocolate bar at the end of it, and got back on the road fully satisfied with the detour 🙂 We got out of there without spending a dime! Whew!

Our first stop was at Jim and Jan Jekel’s house in Camp Hill, PA. Their son, Cliff (who lives just down the road) kindly met us and oriented us to the house. Sadly, Jim and Jan are visiting the Cape (!); but it was so nice of them to open their house for our use. Thanks Jim and Jan! God bless you!

We settled in, had a wonderful time of family worship–reading the Scripture, singing, and praying for ourselves and our trip, our friends and family, the preaching of the Word at Redeemer OPC in Carlisle, PA tomorrow, and our beloved church family at Presbyterian Church of  Cape Cod. For dinner, we headed just down the road to Outback Steakhouse and had a wonderful meal together, grateful to God for a blessed day.

Wherever you gather for worship tomorrow, please remember us in your prayers as we remember you in ours.

Until next time… 🙂
