A tough day–by Schylie

Yesterday, we girls relaxed in the morning and then joined Grandma, Grandpa, Great-Grandma, and Mama’s brother, Rex, for dinner at The Green Light Diner. It was delicious and enjoyable. Afterward, we walked down Liberty Bay.

Yummy dinner!
Trying to pull the sword out of the stone!

Today was a beautiful day, here in Poulsbo. It was cool, sunny, and breezy. Very comfortable. This morning, us girls got up and had a slow morning. We took showers, did our Bible reading, and relaxed. Midmorning, we left with Mama’s brother-in-law, John, for Goodwill. He works there and was able to get us 45% off. We spent about 2 hours shopping and found several nice things. After a  few more errands, we stopped at Arby’s for a quick lunch. Arriving home, we sat down to a yummy dinner of lasagna, green salad, and fruit salad. We are now finishing dishes and soon to play some games. Our day was great…but the guys’ day was not so great.

Yesterday, was Forrest’s birthday. The guys slept in and started biking around 10am. They left Coburg, OR, and traveled 55 miles. They arrived at Mckenzie Bridge that evening and stayed the night in an RV park. Unfortunately, I do not have much more to say about that day.

Today, on the other hand, was extremely difficult. The guys left Makenzie Bridge and began a long, hard day. Today, their ride consisted of a 4000 ft climb in elevation. It was grueling. They biked for 7 hours. They took several breaks, but persevered in spite of the discouraging climb. I am sure the day felt it would never end. Finally, they arrived at Sisters, OR. They sat down to eat at a restaurant. They are hoping to stay at a bike campground tonight. I am not sure how many miles they conquered today.

We talked to Daddy briefly tonight. It was clear he was very worn out and shaken by the stress and trials of the day. I can not adequately express the pain and struggle they went through today, all the while pressing on and keeping up their spirits. Daddy mentioned that he was very proud of the boys and impressed by their endurance.

If you have a minute, would  you consider texting Daddy and the boys and giving them a word of encouragement? They are so grateful for your prayers.

Signing off…

  1. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

You have conquered – to gain a victory over, surmount, master, overcome – the Cascade Mountains and they are now behind you!! Wow!! So proud of you all and your tenacity and perseverance. The pictures are amazing – thanks for sharing!! 🙂
