Schylie’s Graduation from CCCC
We were blessed yesterday to attend Schylie’s graduation from Cape Cod Community College with her AA. God be praised, she graduated with High Honors, having a GPA of 3.98. We are so very proud of her hard work through these last two years of study. She is leaving on Sept 4 to serve as a Missionary Associate with our team of missionaries in Karamoja, Uganda for one year. Please join us in praising God for this wonderful achievement and please keep her in your prayers as she seeks to serve the Lord.
Jeein’s Graduation from Gordon College
Today we had a wonderful time attending Jeein’s graduation from Gordon College. We are proud of her for working so diligently to earn a BA in Psychology and we are so very thankful to the Lord for upholding and enabling her along the way.
Jeein came into our lives on June 9, 2012 and arrived in our home on Aug 6, 2012 to begin her studies at Cape Cod Community College. We have come to love her as our own and rejoice with her parents, David and Jenny Kang, and with her brother Harry, to see what God has wrought over these last 5 years.
Here are some of the pictures from today’s ceremony and lunch afterwards. We are so thankful that her mother was able to be with her to celebrate this important day.
A morning ride to Starbucks
Rocky and I had a nice ride to Starbucks this morning and were rewarded by a Cold Brew and a visit from the ladies 🙂
We loaded up most of our panniers so that we could get some idea of cycling with the extra weight. Not to mention, every ride we can get in before we go will help acclimate our derrières to our saddles and give us a chance to work out any bugs in our bikes.
During the ride to Starbucks and back (11.2 miles) we found we both had trouble with slipping gears. So it’s back to Sea Sports this afternoon for an adjustment. I’ve learned how to do it myself, but they’re a bit faster and Jeff, the owner, called and said he had some vests he wants to give us. Those guys have been really great all along the way with discounts and overall kindness. I think they’re as excited as we are about this trip!
Until next time… 🙂
An evening ride
Tonight was a perfect night for a ride. Rocky and I rode just under 10 miles, making a loop from the house, to the West Main rotary, down to Craigville beach, and back home via Old Stage Rd. Many thanks to the great crew at Sea Sports in Hyannis (Jeff, Larry, Mike, Dusty, Sean, etc.) for all their help fixing us up with our bikes and gear!
And so it begins…
And so it begins… the long awaited sabbatical. My sabbatical began on Monday, May 1 and, despite the fact that I have felt quite poorly since then, it has been a busy two weeks. Continue reading “And so it begins…”
